The Splitter of dawns, and He made the night for repose, and He made the sun and moon for reckoning of time, that is the designing of the Exalted, Knower.
It is told in verses 36: 37-38: "Night is another sign for mankind when Lord withdraw the daylight from it, then they are in darkness. The sun runs along a course of its own, and that is the design of the Exalted, Knower". It is told in verses 10: 5-6: "That Lord is the One Who made the sun with hot light and the moon with light and computed its phases to know for mankind the number of years and the dates. Lord has not created that except with Truth, He is explaining verses for a people who know". It is told in verse 55: 5 that the sun and the moon move by precise calculation. The alternation of night and day and raising of sun and moon will continue till Dooms Day. On Doomsday, the sun will be eclipsed, and the sun and moon will be gathered as told in verses 75: 8-9.
